Have this ready when you call

1. What you lost — the item, the metal, roughly the size.
2. The time of day it happened — as precisely as you can. On a beach this is the most valuable thing you can give me, because I can work back from the tide chart.
3. Exactly where you were — landmarks, not just the beach name. Which tower, which court, how far from the stairs.
4. What you were doing — swimming, throwing a ball, sunscreen, packing up, gardening.
5. Whether anything's changed — mowed, watered, raked, or a big swell since.
6. A photo of the spot, if you have one from that day. Text it to me.

And one thing not to do

Don't keep searching the area, and don't rake or sift it. I know that's counter-intuitive when you're panicking. But every pass with a rake or a set of fingers moves the ring somewhere new and erases the search area. Leave it exactly as it is.

What happens next

I'll ask you those questions, tell you honestly whether I think a search is realistic, and if it is we'll set a time. A $75 call-out fee covers my travel; if I find your ring, you decide the reward.
