Silver Ring Recovered at Solimar Beach, Ventura
Frankie texted about a ring her friends had lost at Solimar the day before. I got a high tone about thirty seconds into the search.
A text about the day before
Frankie got in touch by text. Her friends had spent a Tuesday enjoying the sun and surf at Solimar Beach, and it was only when they got home that they realized the ring was gone. I told her I would get out there that evening, and if her ring was there I would find it.
Not every search is hard
I located the area where the group had been and started to grid it out with the Minelab Manticore and the CKG scoop. About thirty seconds in I got a nice high tone. I plunged the scoop into the sand and the ring came out.
Why it went so fast
Two reasons. Solimar is a narrow beach, so the searchable area is small. And Frankie's friends could tell me exactly where they had been sitting. Good information beats a big grid every single time — most of the work in this job happens on the phone before I ever pick up the detector.
